This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on generalist with experience navigating the unique realities of unionized environments, collective bargaining, job evaluation, and workforce transitions in resource-constrained sectors.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Partner closely with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, change management, and employee engagement strategies
- Lead and support complex employee and labour relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and union discussions
- Guide leaders through performance management, conflict resolution, terminations, and return-to-work cases
- Facilitate succession planning conversations and talent reviews within your client groups
- Conduct job classification reviews using established methodologies and provide sound recommendations
- Participate in job evaluations, organizational restructures, and reclassification processes
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team on senior-level recruitment and hiring panels
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share ideas for enhancing HR processes and programs
- Support leaders in interpreting and applying multiple collective agreements and employment legislation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist/business partner experiencein a unionized setting
- Proven ability to manageemployee and labour relations cases, grievances, and investigationswith confidence
- Experience withjob classification and compensation reviewsusing recognized methodologies
- Solid knowledge ofworkforce planning, organizational design, and talent management practices
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments where no two days look the same
- Strong influencing skills — able to build trust, coach leaders, and confidently guide tough conversations
- EDI-informed mindset and a collaborative, open-minded approach to process improvements and people leadership
