Position Summary

The Housekeeper position is committed to providing quality housekeeping services at all facilities at the South Okanagan Events Centre Complex. This position is responsible for various duties including but not limited to cleaning, dusting, waxing, polishing facility floors, walls, windows, restrooms, and furnishings. This position will provide housekeeping services at the South Okanagan Events Centre and the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre as well as other areas of the SOEC complex. The position requires physical activity including standing, bending, lifting, walking, and climbing stairs.

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.00-$21.00 CAD

Responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of chemical cleaners and disinfectants
  • Working knowledge of custodial equipment inlcuding buffers, shampoo machines, vacuum cleaners, bucket & wringer, pressure washer, riding scrubber, etc.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as indepentently
  • Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lift 22kg unaided
  • Ability to operate equipment safely according to training provided
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Monitoring venue areas for safety and security of guests and employees
  • Provide guests with directions and other venue information
  • Respond to all requests in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance during all scheduled shifts
Qualifications
  • WHMIS training strongly preferred
  • Working experience in an areana, convention centre, or stadium preferred
  • Ability to converse fluently in English is strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and write in English is strongly preferred
  • Must be polite, friendly and possess good interpersonal skills as this position has guest and employee contact
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be available to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors occasionally
