Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (or 3rd year apprentice) to inspect, service and repair a diverse fleet of earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment. You will diagnose issues, document work orders, and contribute to a safe, efficient shop environment.

Applicants must reside in Canada with legal work entitlement; a valid Class 5/G license and own tools are required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal/Journeyperson license (421A or 310T) or 3rd year apprentice.
• Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Own tools and ability to bring them to the job.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment in shop and on sites.
• Diagnose malfunctions and repair; test equipment for proper performance.
• Keep accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Maintain a clean, safe shop and yard following company policies.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment both in the shop and on customer jobsites.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs, testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or minimum 3rd year apprentice is required.
• Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Valid Class 5/G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Must have own tools.
• Available and willing to work over-time as needed.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.
• Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
