Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a delivery driver to transport heavy-duty construction equipment to customer jobsites across Canada. The role requires careful vehicle inspections, proper load securement, and timely communication with branches to keep customers informed of schedules.

You will need a valid AZ license with a clean abstract and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather. Overtime and on-call rotations may be required; uniforms and safety gear are provided.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Class AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record (≤3 demerit points).
  • Ability to drive in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a diverse fleet of heavy equipment to customer jobsites, including excavators, dozers, and loaders.
  • Load/unload equipment and secure it per safety procedures.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and check fluid levels.
  • Obtain customer signature on contracts when needed and report delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate delivery/pickup records and notify management of scheduling changes.

What You’ll Be Doing – Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver a diverse fleet of heavy-duty construction equipment to customer jobsites, including (but not limited to) excavators, dozers, articulated dump trucks, wheel loaders, loader backhoes to and from jobsites.
  • Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
  • Perform vehicle inspections daily, as well as checking gas, oil and other fluid levels.
  • Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
  • Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
  • Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
  • Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
  • Communicate with your branch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
  • Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
  • If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature.
  • Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
  • Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
  • Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
  • Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.
  • Complete daily accurate pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs and timesheets.
What You’ll Bring to the Team – Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid Class AZ driver’s license with a driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
  • Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
  • Comfortable with manual transmission
  • Comfortable with city driving
  • Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
  • Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of heavy-duty construction equipment on flat-bed trucks is required.
  • Available and willing to work overtime when required and on an on-call rotation if required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability; must be comfortable with adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
