Job summary

RJ MacLean Energy Services seeks an experienced Heavy Duty Technician/Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair heavy equipment and vehicles. You will perform preventative maintenance and component replacements, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, and keep detailed service records.

The role requires a Class 5 license and willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments, with a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Technician certification is required.
• 5+ years of experience as Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic.
• Must be able to work out of town on a rotational schedule.
• Excellent safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
• Willingness to provide references and consent to checks.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair heavy-duty vehicles, machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing and component replacements per manufacturer specs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems using diagnostic tools.
• Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance and repair records.
• Coordinate specialized repairs and parts with supervisors, operators and vendors.
• Identify and report equipment deficiencies and safety concerns.
• Use tools and PPE safely per procedures and regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support safety culture across shop, yard and field.

The Job: Equipment Maintenance, Repair and Safety

• Inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair heavy-duty vehicles, machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing and component replacements in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems using appropriate diagnostic tools and technical knowledge.
• Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance and repair records.
• Coordinate specialized repairs and parts requirements with supervisors, operators and external vendors.
• Identify and report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns and maintenance requirements.
• Use tools, equipment and personal protective equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized and properly equipped work area while supporting a strong safety culture across shop, yard and field operations.

What Skills and Training Do You Need?

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Technician certification.
• 5+ years’ experience working as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic.
• Vacuum Truck experience is an asset.
• Minimum Class 5 Driver’s License required with clean abstract.
• Excellent safety record and a commitment to safe work practices.
• Willingness to provide references, consent to a criminal record check and complete pre-employment alcohol & drug testing.
• Must be able to work out of town on a rotational schedule.
