Job summary

Senior Helpers is urgently hiring Health Care Assistants in British Columbia. Join our team to provide compassionate, in-home care to seniors in various settings.

We welcome new graduates or experienced caregivers. Requirements include BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, completion of an HCA program, TB test, and background checks. Benefits include flexible scheduling and paid training. Shifts include days, evenings, and weekends; transportation helpful.

Qualifications

• BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry registration is required.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• TB test completed in the past 90 days.
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping and meal preparation.
• Monitoring and reporting changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team.
• Providing assistance with mobility and safe patient transfers.
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements.
• Assisting with medication reminders and administration under supervision.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanor
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting preferred
• Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days
• A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
