Job summary

Senior Helpers Kelowna is seeking compassionate Health Care Assistants to provide in-home support to seniors. You’ll help with personal care, mobility, meals, light housekeeping, and companionship, delivering dignity and independence in a trusted, respectful environment.

We offer competitive pay, flexible scheduling (full-time, part-time, casual, weekends), paid training, and opportunities for growth. Requires BC Care Aide Registry, HCA program completion, and fluency in English; transportation

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant Program.
• Previous caregiving or healthcare experience preferred.
• Negative TB test within past 90 days.
• Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check within past 90 days.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate in-home support to seniors and individuals needing daily living assistance.
• Assist with personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
• Provide mobility assistance and safe transfers.
• Meal preparation and feeding assistance.
• Light housekeeping and laundry.
• Medication reminders and supervision.
• Offer companionship and social engagement.
• Maintain a clean, safe, respectful home environment.

Responsibilities

As a Health Care Assistant, you will provide compassionate in-home support to seniors and individuals needing assistance with daily living. Duties may include:

• Assisting clients with personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
• Providing mobility assistance and safe transfers
• Meal preparation and assistance with eating and drinking
• Light housekeeping and laundry
• Medication reminders and medication assistance under supervision
• Monitoring and reporting changes in client condition
• Providing companionship, emotional support, and social engagement
• Supporting clients in maintaining independence and quality of life
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful environment

Qualifications

We are looking for caregivers who are:

• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Passionate about helping seniors maintain dignity and independence

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant Program
• Previous caregiving or healthcare experience preferred

• Reliable transportation
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
• Must be able to speak and write English fluently (additional languages are an asset)
