Job summary

Senior Helpers of Vancouver is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Registered Care Aide) to provide compassionate in-home and facility support to seniors in the Burnaby area. This role emphasizes dignity, safety, and individualized care, with a focus on daily living activities and mobility assistance.

Candidates must be registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, complete an HCA program, and have at least one year of healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Assisting with instrumental activities of daily living (light housekeeping, meal prep).
• Monitoring changes in patient condition and reporting to healthcare team.
• Support mobility and safe transfers.
• Assist with eating/drinking per dietary needs.
• Administer or remind about medications under supervision.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families

Qualifications:

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements:

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting(minimum 1 year)
• Negative TB testcompleted in the past 90 days
• A negativeCriminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid(preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
