Job summary

Senior Helpers Vancouver is hiring Health Care Assistants (Registered Care Aide) to provide compassionate in-home care for seniors. Join a team that emphasizes dignity, safety, and quality of life, with flexible scheduling and support for ongoing training.

Qualifications

• English speaking and writing required; other languages are assets when available.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Assist with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping and meal prep.
• Monitor and report changes in clients’ conditions to the healthcare team.
• Support mobility and safe transfers for clients.
• Assist with eating and hydration according to dietary needs.
• Provide medication reminders and assist with administration under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and document care.
• Offer emotional support and companionship to clients and families.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (minimum 1 year)
• Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days
• A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
