Job summary

Senior Helpers of Vancouver is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Registered Care Aide) to support seniors in home settings, assisting with daily living and mobility while coordinating with the care team.

The role requires BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, completion of a recognized HCA program, at least 1 year of experience, and current TB/background checks. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. We offer flexible shifts and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak and write in English.
• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• Previous experience as an HCA in healthcare (min 1 year).
• Negative TB test within the past 90 days.
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check within 90 days.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Help with instrumental duties (light housekeeping, meal prep).
• Monitor and report changes in client condition to healthcare team.
• Assist with mobility and safe transfers.
• Support eating and hydration per dietary needs.
• Remind and administer medications under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and provide companionship.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families

Qualifications

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (minimum 1 year)

• Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
