Job summary

Senior Helpers of Vancouver is hiring Health Care Assistants (Registered Care Aide) to support seniors in homes and facilities. If you have experience in facilities, hospital, home care or healthcare, you’d be a valued part of our team and can make a real difference in daily living.

Qualifications

• Current registration with BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• Minimum 1 year experience as Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting.
• Negative TB test within past 90 days.
• Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check within past 90 days.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Assist with instrumental activities of daily living (light housekeeping, meal prep).
• Monitor and report changes to the healthcare team.
• Provide assistance with mobility and safe transfers.
• Support patients with eating and drinking per dietary needs.
• Assist with medication reminders and administration under supervision.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Provide emotional support and companionship.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families

Qualifications:

• Compassionate and empathetic demeanour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.

Requirements:

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (minimum 1 year)
