Job summary

CIBC's Financial Institutions & Sponsors team seeks an Associate to support mergers and acquisitions, strategic and capital structure advisory, and equity and debt financings across North America. You’ll work with senior bankers to develop client materials, conduct industry research, and build sophisticated financial models to inform live mandates and opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in investment banking or related field.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
• Degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics or related discipline; CFA/CPA/MBA asset.
• Experience with financial modelling, valuation, and MS Office tools including Excel/PowerPoint/Word.

Responsibilities

• Conduct industry, company and market research to support client strategy and execution.
• Prepare client presentations and supporting analysis for mandates.
• Build and review sophisticated financial models and valuations.
• Support live transactions and coordinate workstreams across stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with clients, prospects and internal partners.
• Assist senior colleagues and maintain team materials and databases.
