Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking a General Manager to lead day-to-day operations, staff, and client relations across a branded retail foodservice environment in Canada. You will drive financial reporting, menu management, and service quality to meet contractual standards.

Responsibilities include catering large events, managing labor costs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety programs. A strong leader with 5+ years of multi-unit experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education with at least 5 years of foodservice or related management experience in a branded retail environment.
• AFST certification plus Level 1 and 2 Health & Safety within 90 days of hire.
• Strong catering experience, including large events.
• Experience dealing with labour relations issues.
• Proven financial management skills, controlling product and labour costs weekly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong leadership and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff and day-to-day operation to meet contractual service levels across administration, staffing, customer relations, service, and food quality.
• Complete financial reporting including payroll, period summaries, and sales reports; maintain budgetary and inventory controls.
• Oversee HR and Labour Relations including personnel files, collective agreements, hiring, training and discipline.
• Assist with menu management, food cost controls, and production; monitor meals and service quality.
• Train, develop, and lead a team to provide great customer service; delegate work and supervise daily operations.
• Ensure accurate submissions in Compass systems and observe meal service quality; address customer feedback.
