Our client is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Manager to join their team in Toronto.

This position involves working on projects within the rail industry, including High Speed, Metro, LRT, and streetcars.

Responsibilities:

The Fire & Life Safety Manager in an infrastructure design project is responsible for defining the safety and fire protection strategy, ensuring that the design complies with safety standards, and coordinating with various disciplines to follow the strategy and meet regulatory requirements.

The FLS Manager will review designs to identify and mitigate potential fire safety and life safety hazards.

The manager will coordinate with the client and local authorities to ensure project compliance and expectations are met.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and post-graduate degree in Safety, Fire Engineering, Emergency Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Desirable certifications include CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
• Knowledge of fire safety standards and regulations such as NFPA, and other relevant safety standards like OSHA
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a construction environment
• Experience with rail projects is an asset
