Job summary

Wabun Tribal Council in Timmins is seeking a Finance Administrator to support the Finance Advisor in keeping general ledger accounts current and financial records properly maintained. You will work with Wabun First Nations and their finance departments as required.

The successful candidate will manage invoices and cash receipts, assist with financial matters, and prepare status reports for review by Chiefs and the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • 3-year accounting diploma/degree or 3+ years accounting experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of finances, budgets and forecasts
  • Experience with Indigenous organizations or government agencies
  • Experience with manual and computerized accounting systems including Adagio and Simply 50
  • Knowledge of government funding criteria
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in the workplace
  • Criminal background check and bondability

  • Ensure invoices and statements are paid on a timely basis and kept up to date
  • Record invoices and cash receipts in the financial system promptly
  • Assist the Finance Advisor with financial matters as requested
  • Assist in the timely preparation of financial status reports for Chiefs and Executive Director for review and approval

Job description

Wabun Tribal Council is currently accepting applications for the position of Finance Administrator at its Timmins office.

Under the direction of the Finance Advisor, the Finance Administrator will help ensure Wabun Tribal Council’s general ledger accounts are kept current and financial records are properly maintained. The successful candidate will also work with Wabun First Nations and their finance departments as required.

  • Minimum 3-year Accounting Diploma/Degree from a recognized College or University, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the accounting field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of finances, budgets and forecasts
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or government agencies
  • Experience and knowledge of a manual accounting system and computerized systems including Adagio and Simply 50
  • Experience and knowledge of various government funding and criteria
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability within the working environment
  • Criminal References check relevant to the position and ability to be bondable
Duties and Responsibilities
