Job summary

Government of Alberta in Edmonton seeks a Finance 2 to join a talent pool for ongoing opportunities across ministries. The role focuses on financial reporting, operations, and compliance within a large public sector environment.

You will produce financial statements, manage transactions across grants, contracts, A/P, A/R, and G/L, and liaise with auditors. Strong communication and PSAS knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• University graduation in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Management or other related field plus one-year related experience.
• Equivalencies will be considered: minimum 2-year diploma plus three years related experience.
• In process or completion of a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Produce quarterly financial information, year-end reporting, and disclosures in line with PSAS and ministry policies.
• Manage ministry-wide financial operations: grants, contracts, travel, A/P, A/R, G/L and internal controls.
• Provide financial advice to clients to ensure regulatory compliance and sound decision-making.
• Liaise with auditors to provide documentation and explanations for audits.
• Support grant/contract lifecycle management and funding approvals.
