Government of Alberta is seeking a Paralegal Officer in Edmonton to manage a large inventory of overdue receivables for GoA ministries and pursue effective legal strategies to maximize recovery. Treasury Board and Finance – Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) is responsible for the collection of revenue and the administration of Alberta’s tax, revenue and related benefit programs. The focus of our organization is to ensure a fair, efficient and effective provincial tax and revenue system. Business Solutions within TRA provides a diverse scope of services to the Branch and to Alberta Government Ministries, in the support of Collections and Recoveries activities. The Paralegal Services teams within Business Solutions perform activities such as management of highly sensitive portfolios and paralegal services involving collection, legal and enforcement actions.
Are you an experienced legal professional with strong analytical, negotiation, and case-management skills? Reporting to the Team Lead, the Paralegal Officer manages a substantial portfolio of overdue receivables for Government of Alberta ministries and pursues effective legal strategies to maximize recovery. From investigating files and preparing legal documents to obtaining judgments and representing the Crown in mediations, pre-trial conferences, and Provincial Court trials, this role offers the opportunity to apply your legal expertise in a complex and collaborative environment.

This is a temporary 24-month full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position is located in downtown Edmonton.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a criminal records check (CRC).
