Job summary

RHI Magnesita is seeking a Service Technician to provide hands-on refractory installation support, maintenance, inspections, and field service solutions at customer sites in Hamilton, Ontario. This full-time, on-site role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and customer service while supporting plant operations in demanding industrial environments.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in industrial field service or refractories, be able to travel up to 50%, read blueprints, operate forklifts and PPE,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial field service or refractories.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (Canada and US).
• Experience with refractory installation, bricklaying, welding, forming, or gunning is an asset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Valid driver's license.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.
• Safety certifications and knowledge of health and safety regulations are assets.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Practice Safety Skills Daily.
• Manage refractory products including inventory, installation and monitoring performance.
• Support refractory installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities at customer locations.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and layouts to ensure accurate installation and maintenance activities.
• Conduct product audits and investigations when required.
• Utilize precision measuring equipment, scanners, thermal imaging cameras, and related diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and tools.
• Maintain accurate documentation, expense reports, and project records while representing RHI Magnesita professionally.
