Tenure: Full-Time (Temporary to Permanent)

Shift: Morning & Afternoon Shifts

Pay Rate: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and mechanically inclined Field Service Technician to join our growing team in Hamilton, ON. This role is responsible for the assembly, installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy industrial equipment both in the shop and at customer sites across North America

The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical assembly, industrial equipment installation, pipe fitting, maintenance, or millwright-related work and must be comfortable traveling throughout North America to support equipment installations, warranty work, inspections, and customer service projects.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Assembly & Installation
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and product specifications to determine assembly and installation requirements
  • Assemble and install heavy industrial equipment and systems according to engineering drawings and quality standards
  • Fit and assemble simple and complex mechanical components and subassemblies
  • Install major equipment components including tanks, dampers, generators, structural frames, louvers, insulation systems, sound attenuation systems, and building panels
  • Thread, fit, and install piping systems and pipe spools using assembly drawings and specifications.
Field Service & Commissioning
  • Travel to customer sites throughout North America to perform equipment installation, commissioning, startup support, inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, repairs, and warranty service
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform corrective actions to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Communicate with customers professionally and provide technical support during service visits
  • Document service activities, repairs, inspections, and commissioning reports accurately
Material Handling & Rigging
  • Assist with rigging, hoisting, positioning, and alignment of large equipment and subassemblies weighing up to 40 tons
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
  • Load, unload, transport, and stage equipment and materials within the facility and customer sites while following established safety procedures
  • Provide feedback regarding equipment performance and potential design improvements
  • Assist supervisors and engineering teams with Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and technical documentation updates
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, inspections, and completed work
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of cranes, forklifts, power tools, and other equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment both in the shop and in the field
Qualifications
  • Completion of an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) apprenticeship is considered a strong asset
  • 2–10 years of experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, construction, mechanical assembly, millwright, maintenance, or field service environment
  • Strong mechanical assembly and troubleshooting experience
  • Pipe fitting, industrial construction, equipment installation, or maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and technical specifications
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be comfortable traveling extensively throughout North America, including overnight and multi-day travel assignments
  • Ability to work safely in industrial and construction environments and lift materials as required
