Job summary

Toromont Material Handling in Kingston, Ontario, is seeking a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment, to service customer sites in a Toromont Service truck and provide expert diagnostics to keep Caterpillar equipment running safely and efficiently.

You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electric forklifts, IC engines, hydraulics, and related systems, using OEM software and Caterpillar testing tools; a valid driver's license and bilingual ability are assets.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Technician or have equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V).
• Solid understanding of internal combustion engines.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is a strong asset.
• Bilingual English and French is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment.
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Deliver excellent customer service in the field and shop.

Toromont Material Handlingis looking for a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment to go directly to customer sites in a Toromont Service truck and provide superior service and product expertise to maintain high standards that ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner with the utmost integrity.

Pay Type

Full Time, Permanent

Compensation

$42.65 to $49.02

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment: Electric forklifts (batteries, motors, controllers, electronics), Internal combustion units (propane, gas, diesel engines), Hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards
• Deliver excellent customer service in the field and shop
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment and leveraging top tier technical skills
• Maintain quality workmanship to repair Caterpillar equipment within the established time standards out in the field
• Maintain excellent communication and trusted customer relationships through regular on site visits

Must-haves for this role:

• Licensed Technician or equivalent hands-on experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V)
• Solid understanding of internal combustion engines
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is considered a strong asset
• Bilingualism, English and French, is considered an asset.
