Job summary

Toromont Material Handling seeks a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment to travel to customer sites in a Toromont Service truck and provide expert service to ensure repairs are completed promptly with the utmost integrity.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain electric forklifts and internal combustion units, read electrical and hydraulic schematics, and deliver high-quality customer service in both field and shop environments.

Qualifications

• Licensed technician or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V).
• Understanding of internal combustion engines.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is a strong asset.
• Bilingualism, English and French, is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment: Electric forklifts, IC units, hydraulic/mechanical systems.
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Complete detailed service reports.
• Deliver excellent customer service in the field and shop.
• Maintain communication with customers through regular on-site visits.

Toromont Material Handling is looking for a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment to go directly to customer sites in a Toromont Service truck and provide superior service and product expertise to maintain high standards that ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner with the utmost integrity.

This position is to work near/out of Kingston

Pay Type

Full Time, Permanent

Compensation

$42.65 to $49.02

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment: Electric forklifts (batteries, motors, controllers, electronics), Internal combustion units (propane, gas, diesel engines), Hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards
• Complete detailed service reports
• Deliver excellent customer service in the field and shop
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment and leveraging top tier technical skills
• Maintain quality workmanship to repair Caterpillar equipment within the established time standards out in the field
• Maintain excellent communication and trusted customer relationships through regular on site visits

Must-haves for this role:

• Licensed Technician or equivalent hands-on experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V)
• Solid understanding of internal combustion engines
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is considered a strong asset
• Bilingualism, English and French, is considered an asset.
