Overview

The primary function of the Field Service Technician is to provide responsive service, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of industrial air compressors, while building strong relationships with our customers located in the BC Lower Mainland region.

This is the perfect opportunity for candidates with previous experience in a Service Technician role or similar. Previous compressed air knowledge is an asset; however we will provide all training necessary to become a factory certified Ingersoll Rand Technician. Interested candidates must possess strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, a positive, team-focused attitude, exceptional customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work independently while providing consistent high-quality detailed work.

Responsibilities
  • Provide responsive service to ensure reliable and efficient operation of industrial air compressors.
  • On-site service, installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of compressed air equipment to meet operating and quality standards.
  • Document service and installation activities by completing work orders, maintenance checklists, and daily time sheets.
  • Promote company products, services and solutions (equipment, system accessories, planned maintenance, diagnostics, audits, and leak detection) and communicate value to customers.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers, both verbally and in writing; maintain rapport and address complaints with solutions and improvements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to obtain required parts and materials; assist with follow-up to obtain customer approval.
  • Adhere to safety standards and procedures in diverse and changing work environments.
  • Travel to customer sites in the BC Lower Mainland region with occasional travel to surrounding areas; rotation-based on-call service with occasional after-hours call-outs.
  • Understand electrical wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment; operate using tools and diagnostics as required.
  • Keep accurate records of activities and ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety standards; PPE requirements may apply.
  • Promote all company products and solutions and communicate their benefits to customers.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma; post-secondary and/or related technical training and experience preferred.
  • Previous industrial air compressor service experience is an asset; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
  • Experience in mechanical, millwright, HVAC, electrical/electronics, and compressed natural gas will receive special consideration.
  • Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC, electricity, controls, refrigeration systems and/or refrigerant certification; candidates with related knowledge but without formal programs may be considered.
  • High integrity and ethical values; motivated to stay updated with the latest in compressed air innovation.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend operations and parts manuals; proficiency with Microsoft Office and hand-held devices.
  • Must have tools; company supplies specialized and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms and other environments with noise, heat/cold, electrical risk, ladders, and aerial platforms.
  • Physically capable of regular lifting and movement; ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and more than 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Compliance with Workplace Health and Safety standards and PPE; may include being clean-shaven for some customer sites.
  • No criminal record; valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driving record; driver abstract required.
  • Training includes job shadowing, hands-on field work, online training, and classroom training; periodic travel to Ingersoll Rand’s corporate training facility in the USA may be required.
  • Valid Canadian passport with ability to travel across Canada and the US.
