Job summary

Toromont Material Handling is seeking a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment to service customer sites across Eastern Canada in a Toromont Service truck, delivering superior service and expertise to keep repairs timely and uphold integrity.

In this role you will diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electric forklifts, internal combustion engines, hydraulic and mechanical systems, using OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools, performing preventative maintenance and completing detailed

Qualifications

• Licensed technician or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V).
• Solid understanding of internal combustion engines.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment: Electric forklifts, IC engines, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards.
• Complete detailed service reports.
• Deliver excellent field and shop customer service.
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment and leveraging top tier technical skills.
• Maintain quality workmanship and repair Caterpillar equipment within established time standards out in the field.
• Maintain excellent communication and trusted customer relationships through regular on site visits.

Toromont Material Handlingis looking for a Field Service Technician, Heavy Equipment to go directly to customer sites in a Toromont Service truck and provide superior service and product expertise to maintain high standards that ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner with the utmost integrity.

Pay Type

Full Time, Permanent

Compensation

$42.65 to $49.02

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of equipment: Electric forklifts (batteries, motors, controllers, electronics), Internal combustion units (propane, gas, diesel engines), Hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Use OEM diagnostic software and advanced tools
• Perform preventative maintenance to manufacturer standards
• Complete detailed service reports
• Deliver excellent customer service in the field and shop
• Diagnose mechanical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment and leveraging top tier technical skills
• Maintain quality workmanship to repair Caterpillar equipment within the established time standards out in the field
• Maintain excellent communication and trusted customer relationships through regular on site visits

Must-haves for this role:

• Licensed Technician or equivalent hands‑on experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (24V–80V)
• Solid understanding of internal combustion engines
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
• Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience with forklifts or material handling equipment is considered a strong asset
• Bilingualism, English and French, is considered an asset.
