Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Hamilton, ON is seeking a full-time Facility Operator for the Afternoon Shift to support daily operations. You will report to the Operations Supervisor and complete production reports and paperwork while handling bulk hazardous waste.

Responsibilities include lifting and moving containers up to 20L, operating safely indoors and outdoors in all weather, and working alone or with a team to meet daily production goals; forklift experience is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Forklift license is an asset.
• Ability to read and identify hazard labels on waste containers.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Must have reliable transportation to a bus-route facility.

Responsibilities

• Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste manually or by machine.
• Perform physical labour including lifting containers up to 20 L.
• Complete production reports and paperwork daily.
• Participate in training provided by the company.
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet daily production goals.
• Maintain safety practices and work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.

Job description

GFL Environmental is looking for a full time Facility Operator (Afternoon Shift) to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. The Facility Operator will be responsible to report to the Operations Supervisor. Also be responsible for performing daily operations such as complete production reports and paperwork, and bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine.

Key Responsibilities

• Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine
• Perform physical labour by lifting containers up to 20L in size
• Complete production reports and paperwork
• Participate in company supplied training
• Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production goals
• Work safely at all times
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies

• High School Diploma
• Forklift License is an asset
• Previous experience handling chemicals is an asset
• Previous experience in an industrial setting is an asset
• Must be able to read and identify labels on containers of waste to determine hazard characteristics
• Must be able to write in a clear and legible manner
• Must have access to reliable transportation to get to and from work on a daily basis. The facility is located on a bus route
• Must possess good verbal communication skills
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
