Job summary

West Neighbourhood House is seeking an experienced Facilities and Properties Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across multiple locations, focusing on safety, maintenance, and compliance. You will lead a diverse team, manage preventive maintenance, and supervise HVAC, elevators, and fire safety systems.

The role includes budgeting, risk management, and coordinating property redevelopment and relocation projects while ensuring accessibility and regulatory standards are met.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education and Certification in Facilities and Project Management, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of facilities management experience (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire systems) with a focus on facilities and risk management.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and property development processes.
• Experience in project management, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day on-site operations of all facilities and properties, ensuring safety and maintenance.
• Provide coaching, support, performance management, and professional development to a diverse team.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance plan across locations.
• Supervise contractors for HVAC, elevators, fire safety, plumbing, and other systems.
• Develop and monitor maintenance and capital budgets.
• Assist in risk management frameworks identifying and mitigating risks.
• Support emergency preparedness planning including disaster recovery protocols.
• Conduct safety audits, address hazards, and train staff on safety procedures.
• Analyze incident reports to identify improvements and training.
• Manage commercial tenant and partner relationships.
• Coordinate property redevelopment at 248 Ossington Ave location.
• Manage relocation plan including budget for relocating programs.
• Manage capital project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communications.
• Liaise with architects, contractors, and regulators to ensure accessibility compliance.
• Provide back-up for Director of Operations and team.
• Participate on Health and Safety Committee.
• Share on-call responsibilities for security company.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, events and other activities.
• Other duties as required.
