Job summary

Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is seeking a dedicated Supervisor, Building Operations, to lead daily facility maintenance and operations for over 200 multi-site buildings in a fast-paced environment. You will supervise both union and non-union staff, manage work orders, and coordinate with external contractors to ensure service standards and safety measures are met.

Qualifications

• Must have Provincial Trade Certification and facility management-related designations.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Facility Management.
• Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Experience in a trade-related environment.
• Experience in scheduling and tracking work orders using a CMMS.
• Experience supervising staff and contractors; education may supplement experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate completion of on-demand and preventative maintenance for facilities.
• Operate within SLAs and prioritize according to timelines.
• Manage Work Orders within City Works and CMMS.
• Recommend maintenance activities across trade groups (structural, mechanical, electrical).
• Review standing offer contracts as required.
• Ensure permits, cost estimates, and quotations are managed.
• Monitor contractors and staff to meet standards and safety rules.
• Coordinate budgets and capital projects with the team.
