Job summary

Town of Riverview is seeking a Supervisor of Facilities & Assets to lead the operation, maintenance, and performance of Town-owned facilities and building systems. You will supervise facility staff, coordinate contractors, and drive preventative and corrective programs to keep buildings safe, reliable, and efficient.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Building Technology, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Red Seal Trade Certificate or equivalent is an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in facility operations with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience supervising staff in a multi-facility environment is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of NB Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of building operating systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) etc. to ensure facilities operate at optimal levels.
  • Coordinate and oversee contracts and service providers supporting Town facilities, ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, Town standards, and operational priorities.
  • Supervise Facility Operators, Utility Workers, the Project Coordinator (energy & Facilities), seasonal employees, and contracted personnel assigned to Town Facilities.
  • Coordinate operational readiness, commissioning, warranty management, and transition-to-operations activities for new and renovated municipal facilities.
  • Responsible for preparing technical reports, logs, specifications, requests, and other documentation as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for the requisition of supplies, parts and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate facility, assets, maintenance, inspection and operational records to support decision-making, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle planning.
  • Oversee and manage Town relationship with leaseholders in Town facilities.
  • Monitor facility performance and ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs for all Town-owned facilities.
  • Prepare pertinent safety records, and reports, ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage preventative and emergency repairs and maintenance required for Town facilities.
  • Provide operational leadership, direction, and prioritization for technical projects delivered by the project Coordinator, ensuring alignment with departmental operational priorities.
  • Assist in developing annual operating and maintenance budgets and establish operational priorities for preventative maintenance activities.
  • Follow emergency response procedures and respond to emergencies related to accidents, injuries, or threats to the facilities.

Job description

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and continuously improving the operation, maintenance, and performance of all Town-owned facilities and associated building systems.

The Supervisor of Facilities & Assets provides operational leadership to facility staff, oversees preventative and corrective maintenance programs, coordinates contractors and technical resources, and ensures municipal facilities remain safe, reliable, efficient, and well maintained.

This position is responsible for planning and delivering assigned facility capital projects, providing operations oversight for facility projects delivered by the Project Coordinator, and supporting commissioning, lifecycle planning, and facility improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Operations Manager, the Supervisor translates departmental priorities into operational work plans while supporting the long-term sustainability of the Town’s facilities and assets.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Building Technology, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, a skilled trade or another related discipline.
  • A Red Seal Trade Certificate or equivalent technical qualification in building-related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsible experience in facility operations, building maintenance, or municipal infrastructure, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience supervising technical and operational staff within a multi-facility environment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership, team and personnel development and relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of the functions, services, and funding sources of a municipal government.
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles and practices of management and supervision.
  • Ability to present proposals and recommendations clearly and logically in public meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound, expert independent judgment.
  • Ability to interpret and implement Town policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and implement the NB Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Excellent demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

Working Conditions:

Incumbent may be required to work non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends and some holidays) as required. Work environment may include but is not limited to Parks, Recreation and Community Relations office and facilities, and other outdoor municipal recreation sites (exposure to the elements). The incumbent may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. Some travel may be required.
