Job summary

Luther College High School is seeking a full-time Maintenance Day Supervisor to lead the maintenance team and oversee building systems. You will monitor boilers, HVAC, and building automation, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance across daily operations.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating work orders, and acting in the manager’s absence. A Fireman’s certificate and willingness to obtain a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate are preferred,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
• Fireman’s certificate and willingness to obtain a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate.
• Three or more years’ experience in building maintenance.
• Three or more years’ experience in heating and cooling system.
• Experience operating equipment such as scissor lifts, lawn mowers, snow blowers, polishers and floor scrubbing equipment is an asset.
• Commitment to employee health and safety practices; WHMIS knowledge essential.
• Flexibility for emergency callouts; excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor boilers and daily inspections for safe operation.
• Operate Building Automation System for optimal building performance.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and coordinate maintenance of HVAC and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedules.
• Assign and delegate work orders to staff; ensure timely completion.
• Act as supervisor in the manager’s absence and provide leadership.
• Train and mentor staff on procedures, safety, and standards.
• Maintain maintenance records and logs; coordinate event setup/teardown.
• Respond to operational issues and emergencies as required.
