Job summary

Luther College High School is seeking a full-time Maintenance Day Supervisor to lead the maintenance team and oversee building systems. You will monitor boilers, HVAC, and building automation, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance across daily operations.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating work orders, and acting in the manager’s absence. A Fireman’s certificate and willingness to obtain a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate are preferred,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
  • Fireman’s certificate and willingness to obtain a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Three or more years’ experience in building maintenance.
  • Three or more years’ experience in heating and cooling system.
  • Experience operating equipment such as scissor lifts, lawn mowers, snow blowers, polishers and floor scrubbing equipment is an asset.
  • Commitment to employee health and safety practices; WHMIS knowledge essential.
  • Flexibility for emergency callouts; excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Maintain maintenance records and logs; coordinate event setup/teardown.

Maintenance Day Supervisor

Luther College High School is seeking applications for a full time Maintenance Day Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of Physical Plant and ultimately the Director of Ancillary Operations the Maintenance Day Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and oversight of Luther College High School’s building systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable building. This role provides leadership to the maintenance team, coordinates maintenance activities, and acts as the supervisor in the manager’s absence.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor boilers and perform daily inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation;
  • Monitor and operate the Building Automation System to maintain optimal building performance;
  • Monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and coordinate maintenance of HVAC systems and related mechanical equipment;
  • Perform and coordinate preventative maintenance activities according to established schedules;
  • Assign and delegate work orders to maintenance staff, ensuring timely completion;
  • Serve as acting supervisor when delegated by the Manager of Physical Plant, providing leadership and decision making in the managers’ absence;
  • Train, mentor, and support staff to ensure they understand procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards;
  • Promote compliance with workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations;
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and documentation;
  • Coordinate and oversee event setup and teardown activities, working with maintenance and custodial staff to ensure spaces are prepared and restored as required;
  • Respond to operational issues and emergencies as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
  • The incumbent will possess a Fireman’s certificate and be willing to obtain a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate.
  • Three or more years’ experience in building maintenance.
  • Three or more years’ experience in heating and cooling system.
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment such as scissor lifts, lawn mowers, snow blowers, polishers and floor scrubbing equipment is an asset.
  • A demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety practices and procedures is required. Knowledge of cleaning materials and chemicals used in the College and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is essential.
  • Flexibility and availability for emergency callouts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees is essential.
  • The incumbent must be physically fit and will be required to routinely lift moderately heavy loads of 50 pounds or more. Most of the day will be spent walking, bending, or kneeling in the performance of duties.
Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $26.00 per hour. Luther College offers vacation, medical and dental benefits as well as an employee and family assistance plan through the Saskatchewan School Board Association agreement and is available after the completion of a three-month waiting period.
