  • Assess third-party liability or shared liability and authorize settlements within authority.
  • Obtain approvals for claims exceeding authority; request legal opinions in complex cases.
  • Represent the insurer at settlement conferences across the province.
  • Handle complex personal and commercial claims, including property damage and bodily injury.
  • Provide advisory services to members and stakeholders.

Job description

  • Investigate assigned claims in the field, including obtaining statements from the relevant parties
  • Identify potentially fraudulent claims and submit them to the manager for referral to the Special Investigations Unit
  • Assess the possibility of third-party liability proceedings (call in warranty) or shared liability
  • Authorize settlements and accept liability for claims within the applicable payment authority limit
  • Obtain the appropriate approvals for claims exceeding the payment authority limit
  • Request legal opinions in complex cases and subsequently take a position
  • Represent the insurer at settlement conferences held throughout the province
  • Handle complex personal and commercial insurance claims
  • Investigate and resolve claims involving property damage and bodily injury
  • Provide advisory services to members and various stakeholders
Requirements
  • College diploma or college certificate in Property and Casualty Insurance
  • 10 years of experience as a field claims adjuster, including at least 5 years specifically handling civil liability claims
  • Hold a valid Business Insurance Claims Adjuster certificate issued by the Autorité des marchés financiers
  • Fluency in French, both spoken and written
  • Advanced proficiency in English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to interact with anglophone colleagues, partners, clients or suppliers, or meet company growth objectives
