Job description

London Cycle Link (LCL) is a member-supported charitable organization dedicated to helping Londoners ride more. Through education, advocacy and community-building efforts, we envision a healthy, vibrant London, Ontario, Canada that chooses cycling as a mode of transportation. We lead campaigns, manage the Ride to Thrive cycling education program, operate Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op, and lead and partake in community events to achieve our goals.

London Cycle Link organizes, collaborates on and participates in a variety of events throughout the year to engage its volunteers, membership and the public at large. These events promote our mission, connect us to like-minded businesses and organizations, provide resources and services, and celebrate community milestones and landmarks. They include family-friendly group rides, pop-up bike repair stations, bike valets, cultural and environmental festivals, educational workshops, and advocacy demonstrations that bring people together to experience the importance and joy of biking and build momentum for a city that rides more.

About the Role

The Events Coordinator will plan, organize, and lead the execution of London Cycle Link’s community events and initiatives, working closely with our (currently operational) board, staff, volunteers, and community partners to create engaging, inclusive, and impactful experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate a pre-established calendar of community cycling events, including logistics, scheduling, budgeting, and promotion.

Work closely with board, staff, volunteers, vendors, fellow charities and nonprofits, and community stakeholders to ensure smooth event operations.

Communicate with community groups, City of London staff, and local businesses to build partnerships and promote the events.

Identify, keep inventory of, and handle necessary event materials and equipment, including tents, signage, promotional literature, for-sale merchandise and bike repair kits.

Support the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies to grow event attendance and engagement.

Promote events through social media, internal and third party newsletters, website updates, and community outreach.

Collect and analyze event feedback and data to improve future programming.

Represent London Cycle Link at community meetings, festivals, and outreach activities.

Qualifications

Friendly, enthusiastic, and an excellent communicator.

Passionate about community-building and the role cycling plays in creating healthier, more connected cities.

Experienced at planning and coordinating events, and comfortable juggling multiple logistics.

Skilled at working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident with digital programs, websites and apps (Google Workspace, Little Green Light, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

In possession of a valid driver’s license and with access to a personal vehicle OR able to operate an electric bicycle with cargo capacity on city streets (provided by LCL or partner business)

Bonus Points

Experience with bike shops, either as a volunteer or staff member

Experience working for or volunteering with a non-profit or charity organization

A strong understanding of and commitment to anti-oppressive values and practices
