We are currently seeking a Communications & Events Coordinator to join our Faculty of Arts team.
Job Overview
The Communications & Events Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans for the department/faculty at KPU. The goal is to enhance KPU's profile through increased visibility, branding, promotions, and community relations to support recruitment, admissions, retention, and engagement activities. The coordinator creates content for print and digital advertisements, email communications, newsletters, event guides, programs, and marketing materials. They plan and execute strategic communication initiatives and oversee department/faculty communications. The Coordinator collaborates with university administration, faculty, staff, students, and community partners to build effective relationships that optimize student recruitment and retention, promote student life, increase engagement, and elevate KPU's brand awareness locally and beyond.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a relevant discipline, plus at least three years of experience in marketing, communications, and office administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Administrative experience is considered an asset.

- Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Experience planning and coordinating events in institutional or corporate settings.
- Creative and critical thinking skills, along with proven problem-solving abilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge and administrative experience in communications.
- Experience managing workflows, developing and deploying communications, and analyzing reports and analytics.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive public relations.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Strong organizational and research skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to anticipate project needs, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- High level of initiative and responsibility, with the ability to work independently and set priorities.
- Experience with student information systems like BANNER and reporting software such as FAST is an asset.
- Strong intercultural communication skills and experience engaging with diverse backgrounds and cultures with professionalism, cultural awareness, and diplomacy.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Excellent customer service skills and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in data entry and importing into computer programs.
- Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Drupal, email, web searches, and experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar graphic design, photo editing, and videography tools.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

Salary Information
