Job summary

PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. in BC Region is seeking an Estimating Student for a 4-12 month term starting January 2027, reporting to an Estimator.

This role provides exposure to estimating manuals, quantity surveys, bid preparations and relationships with subcontractors across BC Region.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and drafting is required.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing estimating manuals, systems and forms.
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator.
• Performing assigned quantity survey tasks.
• Providing quantities of major purchase items to purchasing for pricing.
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator.
• Performing general subtrade solicitation duties.
• Bid document control and bid day assignments.
• Visiting job sites periodically.
• Developing relationships with subcontractors.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator.

We are seeking Estimating Students for our BC Region district, within our Canadian Buildings Division that are available for 4-12 months starting in January 2027. This position will be under the direct supervisor of an Estimator.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Pay Range: $22.26-$27.30

PCL Student wages are determined individually for each student based on the number of completed school terms, relevant work terms, kind of role and work location.
