Job summary

Construction PCL Inc. in Montreal is seeking an Estimating student for the Canadian Buildings sector. The role runs for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027, offering hands-on learning and exposure to real projects within our Montreal district.

You will learn PCL estimating manuals, assist with quantity surveying, and engage with lead estimators while building industry connections and professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Review quantity survey assignments with lead estimator or Chief Estimator.
• Perform assigned quantity survey tasks.
• Provide quantities of major purchase items to purchasing for pricing.
• Transfer quantities to lead estimator.
• Bid document control and bid day assignments.
• Visit job sites periodically and develop subcontractor relationships.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator.

Join us as aEstimating student for our Montreal district, within our Canadian Buildings sectorfor 4 or 8 months starting January 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Estimating student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field constructionexperience will be considered an asset.
