Job summary

Construction PCL Inc. in Montreal is seeking an Estimating student for a 4- to 8-month term starting January 2027. You will learn estimating processes, review quantity surveys, and assist lead estimators on real projects within the Canadian Buildings sector.

You will develop skills with estimating manuals, pricing workflows, and bid-day tasks while building relationships with subcontractors on active sites.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator
