Job summary

PCL Construction is seeking an Estimating student for the Montréal district in the Canadian Buildings sector. The role runs for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027, offering hands-on experience with the estimating team and real projects.

You will learn to use estimating manuals and systems, review quantities with senior estimators, and assist with bid day activities while building relationships with subcontractors. This is an entry-level opportunity with mentorship.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to work in a construction environment.
• Prior field construction experience is an asset.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Review quantity survey assignments with lead estimator or Chief Estimator.
• Perform assigned quantity survey work.
• Provide quantities of major purchase items to purchasing for pricing.
• Bid document control and bid day assignments.
• Visit job sites periodically and develop subcontractor relationships.

Responsibilities

Join us as a Estimating student for our Montreal district, within our Canadian Buildings sector for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a Estimating student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

• Understanding and utilizing PCL's estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Performing general subtrade solicitation duties
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field constructionexperience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheetapplications and drafting.

PCL Student wages are determined individually for each student based on the number of completed school terms, relevant work terms, kind of role and work location.
