Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking an Estimating Student to join our Winnipeg district starting January 2027 for a four‑month term, with potential to extend to eight or twelve months.

You will learn to use PCL’s estimating manuals, review quantity surveys with the lead estimator, perform bid day tasks, and help develop relationships with subcontractors on assigned projects.

Qualifications

• Candidate has a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator
