Job summary

Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron, ON, is seeking an Environmental Services Manager to oversee housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, ensuring a safe, resident-centered environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead staff, manage budgets, and coordinate contracts while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. On-site role with a focus on continuous improvement and quality of life for residents.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory capacity in healthcare or related field.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma preferred.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping, laundry and maintenance practices.
  • 5 years of maintenance related work experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to manage budgets and contracts.

Elizabeth Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Val Caron, Ontario and serves 128 residents. Val Caron, situated in Northeastern Ontario, is located approximately 18 km north of the City of Sudbury's downtown core. The community offers a blend of urban and rural living, with access to natural landscapes and outdoor recreational activities typical of the Sudbury area. The community is known for its family-friendly environment and is part of a region that has a rich history in mining and natural resources.

Join our team as an Environmental Services Manager!

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Environmental Services Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of effective Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Services for the Home, residents and staff.This role encompasses staffing and budget management while ensuring a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff

The Environmental Services Manager also performs essential hands-on general maintenance and housekeeping duties necessary for the Home's operation, oversees waste management, and coordinates the procurement and supervision of contracts and contractors working on behalf of the Home. Additionally, the Environmental Services Manager maintains the grounds, facilitates leadership development among team members, and pursues continuous professional development.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity which may also include experience and demonstrated leadership in the health care field/setting or a relevant field/setting in accordance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation ss 246/22 ss. 98(2).
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma is preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance as applicable.
  • 5 years of maintenance related work experience preferred.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • Able to interpret and implement applicable laws and regulations.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be familiar with cleaning products.
  • Strong customer service orientation and skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills required.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion.
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety Act.
