Job summary

Elizabeth Centre in Val Caron, Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for a part-time, on-site role. Reporting to the Director of Care, you will provide direct resident care, coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team, and ensure accurate documentation and adherence to care plans.

The successful candidate will have a current nursing registration in Ontario, experience in long-term care is an asset, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (O. Reg. 246/22, s. 51).
  • Long-Term Care (Gerontology) experience is an asset.
  • Performs care planning and coordination within a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Demonstrated use of current care technology.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meets MOH and MLTC requirements.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills and ongoing professional development.
  • Computer literate.

Responsibilities

Elizabeth Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Val Caron, Ontario and serves 128 residents. Val Caron, situated in Northeastern Ontario, is located approximately 18 km north of the City of Sudbury's downtown core. The community offers a blend of urban and rural living, with access to natural landscapes and outdoor recreational activities typical of the Sudbury area. The community is known for its family-friendly environment and is part of a region that has a rich history in mining and natural resources.


Join our team as a Registered Practical Nurse!


Reporting to the Director of Care, the role of a Registered Practical Nurse encompasses a wide range of professional nursing responsibilities in accordance with the standards of nursing practice as outlined by the College of Nurses. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, this role provides support in the coordination of care, overseeing designated nursing personnel, and executing tasks as delegated. The Registered Practical Nurse is responsible for delivering direct care in accordance with the established care plans, ensuring the accurate and timely documentation of resident information, facilitating the orientation of new team members and residents, and participating in assigned committees. This position also requires the application of quality improvement and risk management principles, as well as the efficient management of supplies and the meticulous upkeep of the physical environment and equipment.


We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:



  • Candidates must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. O. Reg. 246/22, s. 51

  • Experience in a Long-Term Care (Gerontology) setting is an asset

  • Performs care planning and coordination of care within a diverse multidisciplinary care team

  • A demonstrated use of current care technology

  • Shall exhibit strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ensures all MOH and MLTC requirements are met

  • Must demonstrate good communication skills

  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education, training, and professional development

  • Must be computer literate
