Qualifications

  • Degree in Biology or related discipline (B.Sc.) or Technical Diploma with experience.
  • Practical understanding of Alberta’s environmental legislation.
  • Experience with wetland delineation and classification.
  • Comfortable leading field programs and ecological data collection.
  • Eligibility for professional registration is an asset.
  • Skilled in preparing proposals and managing budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; GIS experience an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver environmental and regulatory planning expertise for projects.
  • Lead permitting processes and ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Prepare wetland assessments and classifications.
  • Coordinate ecological field programs including surveys.
  • Develop proposals and reports influencing project outcomes.
  • Mentor junior team members in the department.
  • Collaborate with teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Skills

Biology or related discipline (B.Sc.) or Technical Diploma with relevant experience
Understanding of Alberta’s environmental legislation and permitting processes
Experience with wetland delineation and ABWRET assessments
Leading field programs and ecological data collection techniques
Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., R.T.Biol.)
Skills in preparing proposals and managing budgets
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS experience
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
