Summary

Under general supervision, the Engineering Technician provides technical support to the applicable engineering program in estimating, designing, preparing technical drawings, and developing prototypes. The Engineering Technician participates in the sales process, sales support and special projects as needed.

Job Duties
  • Responsible for design of electrical control panels, programming and troubleshooting of OEM equipment, controls and automation solutions.
  • Assists with engineering projects, communicating requirements, establishing timelines, and coordinating activities with customer requests.
  • Responsible for power distribution layout, design and details.
  • Responsible for electrical design and detail, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • May train plant personnel on proper usage and preventative maintenance of equipment and control systems.
  • Creates Bill of Material and specify manufacturer part numbers.
  • Performs fieldwork, start up and engineering calculations.
  • Develops basic written functional job specifications if not provided by customer.
  • Participates in joint sales calls with branch staff or directly at accounts to present our capabilities, identify opportunities, review applications, and demonstrate products.
  • Provides commercial and technical sales/application support for inquiries from branch sales staff or customers.
  • Covers all aspects of engineering activities that ensure that the business objectives are met. Includes the creation, development, design, and improvement of products/equipment.
  • Ensures that processes and environmental conditions comply with local and national regulatory agencies, and the organization’s safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience

Typically requires two (2) years of formal technical training beyond high school and at least five (5) years of related experience. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

  • Detail-oriented with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
