Job summary

City of Brampton is seeking a Communications Operator to join the Joint Fire Communications Centre. You will receive emergency calls, dispatch fire apparatus and personnel for Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon, and operate CAD, radio, and console equipment in a high-pressure environment.

The role requires a Grade 12 education, a post-secondary Emergency Services Dispatch accreditation, and prior emergency communications experience. Evening/night shifts and uniform usage are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• Post-secondary Emergency Services Dispatch accredited certification.
• Previous Emergency Services Communications Centre experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive fire and emergency calls and dispatch apparatus and personnel.
• Operate console equipment including telephone, radio, status control and CAD.
• Respond to non-emergency inquiries and redirect callers as needed.
• Maintain radio contact with all vehicles during emergencies and other activities.
• Perform system tests and maintain accurate records.
