Job description

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electrical and electronic equipment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Install, replace, update, and maintain all related electrical and electronic systems, including:
• Lighting systems
• Power distribution systems
• Control circuits (troubleshooting and preventive maintenance)
• Security alarm systems, P.A. systems, clock systems, fire alarms, network cabling
• Energy Management systems as required
• Implement work orders and preventive maintenance requirements
• Assist other trades as necessary in troubleshooting electrical equipment
• Be available for emergency call-in as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor
• Evaluate faults and safety hazards accurately
• Minimize disruption to facility operations while performing duties
• Use judgment and initiative in planning and executing duties to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Contribute suggestions for physical alterations or additions to improve operations
• Work with minimal supervision

Equipment Used :

• Assorted hand tools, test equipment (e.g., Multi-Meter, Amprobe), threading machine, power tools (drills, pipe vice, threader, pipe benders, Greenlee hole punch), ladders, cherry pickers, truck, computer/printer

Qualifications :

• Qualified electrician with a formal 4-year apprenticeship and Ontario Maintenance/Construction License or Industrial/Maintenance Certificate
• C.F.A.A. Certificate preferred; must be obtained within 2 years of hire if not currently held
• Valid driver's license
• Knowledge of Ontario Hydro Electrical Safety Code, Fire, and Building Code
• Electrical experience with a school board is an asset

Additional Information :

• This is a 40-hour per week, permanent day shift position
