This Gas Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering, technical support, and pipeline design for the gas distribution / transmission assets. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing and approving pipeline project designs for compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position provides primarily project engineering and technical support for the pipeline hydraulics team. The most qualified candidates for this position shall have an understanding and technical background working with gas distribution and transmission pipelines, pipeline engineering, and pipeline construction and have effective interpersonal and communication skills.

As an Gas Distribution / Transmission Engineer you have :

  • Technical Skills : You are an EIT (Engineer-In-Training) or P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) with at least 1 year of work experience in gas distribution / transmission . You have a desire to learn to build, maintain, and simulate various hydraulic models in an environment that will allow you to contribute meaningfully to our organization in a short time and learn from senior members of the operations team.
  • Tech Stack : Python, R, VBA, AFT Fathom, AFT Impulse, DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator, DNV Synergi Gas
  • Skills : Data Visualization, Algorithmic Problem Solving, Hydraulic Software Simulations, Process Control Loop Tuning, Statistical Analysis, Technical Writing, Technical Documentation

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive gas distribution / transmission / flow assurance computer hydraulic models.
  • Perform steady state and transient simulations and conduct gas hydraulic analysis on the results..
  • Troubleshoot problems with pipeline equipment and operability due to hydraulic and capacity constraints.
  • Develop control loop tuning parameters based on process control optimization using lambda tuning methodologies.
  • Offer cost-effective solutions to pipeline hydraulic designs and transient surge mitigation strategies.
  • Write, review and develop technical reports in a concise and timely manner.
  • Follow proper engineering practices. Adhere to all relevant internal and external standards.
  • Initiate meetings, correspondence, and discussions with clients during RFI and review processes.
  • Develop knowledge and proficiency with the use of in-house and industry-recognized hydraulic simulation and data analytic tools.
  • Work on advanced statistical algorithms to further in-house pipeline analytics.
