Job Description
The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician inspects, maintains, repairs and installs mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic equipment at plant and/or pump stations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot and diagnose machinery and mechanical equipment such as centrifuges, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic presses, dewatering presses, belts, fans using hand tools and testing instruments;
- Inspect completed repairs and recommend solutions;
- Perform all work with strict adherence to safety legislation and procedures;
- Estimate time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects;
- Requisition supplies and materials as needed;
- Work from engineering drawings, sketches, manuals or verbal instructions to install equipment;
- Provide performance feedback to team members;
- Complete work orders and ensure proper follow-up;
- Disassemble machines for repair or parts replacement;
- Clean and lubricate equipment and machinery;
- Maintain equipment in proper operating condition;
- Occasionally perform machine operator duties;
- Assist co-workers with tasks as needed.
Qualifications:- Valid 442A or 309A Electrician Licence; dual tickets are valued.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as an industrial electrician in environments like water treatment, chemical processing, petrochemicals, etc.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and maintaining plant equipment.
- Experience with machinery, vehicles, and tools.
- Ability to work in a team and handle responsibilities proactively.
- Strong safety knowledge.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills; fluent in English.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe record.
- Comfortable rotating across facility as needed.
Work Environment:- Fast-paced, physically demanding, detail-oriented environment.
- Potential dusty conditions and organic odour.
- Own transportation required.
- Rotating shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM and 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; weekend work may be required.
