Overview

As our newest Electrical Estimator in our Penticton or Kelowna, BC location, you'll be at the heart of the action, managing a bid from beginning to end—creating a scope definition, reviewing the estimate, and maintaining documentation control—ensuring that every detail of project pricing is carefully considered and included. Your ability to think on your feet and remain flexible while meeting tight deadlines will be key to your success. This is an ideal opportunity for a Red Seal Electrician looking to transition out of the field and take on a new challenge.


What You\'ll Be Doing


  • Pre-Bidding Activities: Seek out new projects to bid on, analyze and post tenders to our tracking system, and provide feedback on the suitability of each project.

  • Site Investigations: Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to clarify project expectations, highlight potential issues, and ensure the team is well-prepared.

  • Bid Proposals & Documentation: Review project plans, specs, and proposals to prepare accurate and comprehensive bid estimates, ensuring all required information is included.

  • Trade & Supplier Communication: Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, managing communication during the tender phase to secure the best deal and maintain relationships.

  • Estimating & Scheduling: Accurately estimate labor, material, and equipment costs while building detailed construction schedules to guide the project.


What You Bring to the Team


  • Experience & Skills: years in the field on commercial / industrial projects

  • Experienced doing take offs and preparing estimates (preferred)

  • Well-versed with the following systems : Fire Alarm, Security, Solar, Data / Communication, DDC / BMS / HVAC Controls, Instrumentation, Commercial lighting controls and wiring

  • Proficient at reading drawings and installing main power distribution equipment - panels, transformers, main distribution switchboards etc. - per drawings

  • Practiced at reading equipment cut sheets

  • Skilled at installing specialty / high-end lighting and controls as per manufacturers\' installation requirements and as shown on drawings

  • Education: A Journeyperson Red Seal Electrician certification and / or an Electrical Engineering degree / diploma with relevant site experience

  • Problem Solving: You\'re a resourceful, solution-oriented individual who can think outside the box

  • Communication: Strong communication skills are a must. You’ll engage with owners, architects, engineers, trades, and suppliers, making sure everyone stays aligned and informed.

  • Tech Savvy: Experience with estimating databases, like Accubid, is an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Bluebeam.
