Job description

Join Our Team as a Technical Project Coordinator at The Panel Shop

Join The Panel Shop, a division of Pennecon’s Services and Maintenance Group, and become a vital contributor to a team with over 25 years of experience designing, producing, and managing custom electrical and mechanical control solutions for a variety of industrial sectors. As a Technical Project Coordinator, you will support the lifecycle of client projects—from initial estimating to successful execution and closeout—across multiple project types and industries.

If you're looking to grow your career in a role that combines technical expertise, project management, and hands-on coordination in a collaborative and energetic environment, this may be the opportunity for you.

Why You'll Love Working Here:

  • Work-Life Balance: We understand that life exists beyond the office. That's why we provide flexible hours and remote work options. Our standard work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but with our Flexible Workplace Policy, you can work from home two days a week.
  • Interesting Projects: We believe in learning through experience. You'll have the chance to work on exciting, diverse projects that challenge you to think creatively and develop new skills.
  • Health & Wellness Benefits: Your well-being matters to us. We offer comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support with our Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP), and RRSP contributions.
  • Inclusive & Supportive Culture: Diversity and inclusion are at the core of our values. Join a team that celebrates differences and fosters a collaborative, innovative work environment.

What You’ll Do:

As a Technical Project Coordinator, you’ll manage the technical and administrative aspects of client projects and contribute to operational delivery across multiple functions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed project estimates and quotations from client specifications.
  • Supporting sales and customer service by promoting The Panel Shop’s services to existing and prospective clients.
  • Coordinating project documentation, schedules, production drawings, and materials for design-build contracts.
  • Developing and reviewing CAD drawings including electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of materials.
  • Working with technicians, production teams, and external vendors to coordinate timely project execution.
  • Tracking and reporting on project budgets, costs, and schedule progress.
  • Issuing purchase orders, monitoring materials procurement, and liaising with suppliers.
  • Supporting compliance with technical standards such as CSA and UL.
  • Participating in design reviews and assisting with quality assurance.
  • Other tasks as assigned to support project success.

What We're Looking For:

We’re seeking motivated individuals who bring both technical knowledge and a passion for project execution. Ideally, you have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical or mechanical system design and interpretation of drawings and technical specifications.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and ability to support end-to-end project coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project tracking tools.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent) to support design tasks.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to support estimating, planning, and executing technical projects in a customer-focused environment.

Our Commitment:

At Pennecon, we’re committed to:

  • Our People: We’ll provide opportunities for you to advance your career and support your development through continuous learning.
  • Our Community: We are committed to supporting our communities through charitable donations, sponsorships, and employee volunteerism, with a focus on mental health, education, and making a positive impact where we live and work.
  • Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality: We are committed to safety excellence by promoting a zero-incident policy, holding every employee accountable for minimizing risks, and continuously improving our health, safety, and environmental practices through active participation and best practices.
  • Indigenous Participation: We are committed to fostering strong partnerships with Indigenous communities by promoting equitable employment, supporting sustainable economic prosperity, and building positive relationships through meaningful consultation, business development, and leadership.
