Job Description Summary

This position ensures quality and timely service to all customers (external and internal) within Canada. The District Service Engineer serves as the primary B&W customer contact for Field Engineering Service activities and technical support within the designated region. This role also contributes to meeting financial and absorption targets.

Specific Duties
  • Supervises service engineers and support staff, including training, career development, quality assurance, and performance appraisals.
  • Assigns and directs activities of field engineers within the district to ensure good utilization of personnel.
  • Manages district operations including manpower utilization, expense control, contract performance, revenue, and profit generation.
  • Coaches service engineers to improve performance and prepare for career advancement.
  • Assists in recruitment and hiring of engineers and office personnel.
  • Develops and maintains a motivated workforce within company policies and salary guidelines.
Technical Guidance
  • Oversees Field Engineering team in commissioning new equipment and servicing existing equipment from all B&W product lines.
  • Handles technical problems and suggests design modifications or upgrades to benefit customer operations.
  • Ensures performance of all field-managed and service contracts.
  • Oversees proposals and contracts, including development, pricing, performance, profitability, and cost collection.
Contract Management
  • Ensures performance guarantees, warranties, and contractual obligations are met for new equipment installations.
Internal Coordination
  • Coordinates with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Construction to meet contract schedules.
  • Supports sales efforts by marketing, customer calls, and identifying requirements for components, equipment, and modifications.
  • Provides feedback on technical, commercial, and management issues impacting product and service quality.
Customer Relationship Building

Focuses on customer satisfaction through timely, quality service and develops contacts with plant and engineering managers.

  • Manages customer relations related to services and equipment provided by B&W.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years’ experience, including at least 5 years in field service, with proven mechanical/electrical engineering skills and management experience.
