Job Title : Operations Analyst
Shift : Days
Reports to : Plant Manager
Department : Production
Summary
The Operations Analyst will work closely with the management team in developing world-class operational analytics. The scope of this role will span all operational activities from milk receiving to processing, packaging, and product warehousing and delivery. The development of world-class analytics will include defining critical data requirements and term definitions, establishing proper data gathering processes & tools, and creating effective reports for proper operational analysis. This role will become an expert in Business Central (ERP), Power BI, Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel, and other relevant databases & data-mining tools. The Operations Analyst will work closely and effectively with production personnel and other departments such as Finance, IT, Quality, and Sales.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish effective data gathering processes & capabilities : work with various personnel and departments (i.e., finance, IT, production, sales, and quality) to identify required data for analyzing operational performance. Develop the necessary tools and processes to collect and store necessary data. Prepare and achieve alignment on definitions for various data elements.
- Prepare effective and timely operational analytics / reports : track and measure items such as labour & equipment productivity, product yield & material usage efficiency, schedule attainment, and equipment performance (i.e., throughput and up-time / down-time). Ensure information is properly presented, communicated, and stored. Examples of reports required include :
- Daily / weekly production scorecards
- Monthly & YTD production reports
- Identify and evaluate performance improvement opportunities : perform structured and ad hoc variance analysis and work with various personnel to develop recommendations for improvement. When discrepancies arise, the Operations Analyst works with plant management and other departments to close the gaps and make necessary system changes.
- Assist in solving operational challenges and opportunities as necessary : perform ad hoc data collection, reporting, and analysis to properly support effective operational decision-making.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Who you are :
- College / University diploma / degree in one or more of the following : Engineering, Production Management, Industrial Process, Finance.
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry preferred.
- Expert in Power BI to create dashboards and reports.
- Work experience with Operations preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Computer literacy, including MS 365, advanced Excel / Power BI / ERP skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and / or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Microsoft Business Central and Shop Floor knowledge preferred.
