We are currently hiring a Solution Architect based in our Burnaby Head Office.
As a Solution Architect, you’ll play a strategic and hands-on role in shaping the future of BCAA’s business applications. You’ll lead the adoption of best practices in architecture, development standards, and technical compliance, while working closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and enhance enterprise systems. This role blends high-level architecture work with 50% hands-on development, offering a unique opportunity to drive innovation while staying deeply engaged with technology.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 Remote / 2 On Site). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.
Who you are:
You’re an experienced architect and developer who’s passionate about building scalable, maintainable, and secure systems
You lead by example—translating best practices into practical implementation, mentoring team members, and holding the bar high for code quality

You thrive on collaboration, balancing big-picture architectural vision with detailed system design and development
You communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, from developers to senior stakeholders
You take pride in solving complex problems and improving system performance, security, and reliability
What you’ll do:
Define, implement, and enforce software development best practices, standards, and design patterns across teams
Lead architectural design for both new initiatives and enhancements to existing business systems
Act as a technical mentor, conducting code reviews and ensuring compliance with security and quality standards
Work hands-on in application development (50% of your time) using technologies such as Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and ASP.NET Core
Identify and resolve design or performance issues in critical business systems
Guide teams through TQS and PCI compliance requirements, auditing processes, and recommending remediation strategies
Collaborate with IS Leadership to align technical initiatives with the broader IS Strategic Plan
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Change Control Review Boards and key architectural decisions
Lead data architecture initiatives including data modeling, flow analysis, and design for integration and reporting
Build and automate testing and monitoring solutions to ensure ongoing product quality
Coordinate technical resources on key projects and act as a liaison between architecture and development teams
Perform business system analysis or data architecture duties as needed
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies to continuously drive innovation and modernization
What you bring:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
10+ years of hands-on experience in application development using Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and .NET technologies
4+ years in a solution or enterprise architect role with a strong focus on scalable system design
Deep understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
Experience leading root cause analysis and resolving system-wide technical issues
Solid knowledge of application server configuration, database modeling, and systems integration
Demonstrated ability to enforce standards that improve performance, maintainability, and compliance
Experience working within PCI, TQS, or similar regulatory frameworks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to translate architecture into action
Technical Strengths include:
Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, MUI, jQuery, ASP.NET MVC
Backend: Node.js, Fastify, ASP.NET Core, API development and integration
DevOps & Scripting: Git, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Shell, Python, Dynatrace
Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Vercel, Sitecore CMS
Database: MS SQL Server, advanced SQL, NoSQL
Strong architectural design and modeling capabilities for n-tier web-based systems
Experience developing and enforcing secure and efficient integration standards across platforms
Bonus Skills:
Ability to translate business goals into technical architecture strategies
Experience applying statistical or research methods to evaluate and optimize system performance
Strong organizational, analytical, and facilitation skills
Proven track record of proactively resolving issues and driving technical consensus

The salary range for this position is $100,434.12 to $133,912.08 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
